elderberry

This deciduous shrub typically grows to between 5 and 12 feet. It has yellowish-green leaves and Large clusters of flat topped fragrant, small, star-shaped flowers that appear in the spring. In the summer, the plants fruit, producing small purple berries that can be made into preserves and jams. Visit the Emily deCamp Herbarium for more information.
